One of the most amazing facts in physics is that everything in the universe, from light to electrons to atoms, behaves like both a particle and a wave at the same time. But how did physicists arrive at this mind-boggling conclusion? Chad Orzel recounts the string of scientists who built on each other’s discoveries to arrive at this ‘central mystery’ of quantum mechanics.

TED-Ed Original lessons feature the words and ideas of educators brought to life by professional animators. This project itself is the result of a partnership between TED-Ed (U.S.A) and The Animation Workshop (Denmark). I was invited to be among the first group of 5 Animation Directors assigned by TAW to create and animate visuals in order to embody the scientific content developed by scientist / educator Chad Orzel.

After being handed a voiceover and its written script, I had one month for the pre-production (storyboard, animatic, mood) and another month to animate it. It has 4 minutes and 30 secs and it was developed using Adobe Flash Professional CC.
